St. Peter, Minn.-- The Augustana men's tennis team had a tall task of a weekend facing two top conference competitors. The Vikings dropped both contests and moved to 3-4 on dual action for the season.
Match one -- Grinnell 5, AU 2
The doubles point was lost but not without a fight as the No. 1 doubles team of senior Logan Barr and freshman Cade Damgaard were able to best their opponents with a 7-6 win. Damgaard was also able to grab a win in singles No. 2. Junior North Knewtson picked up a win in No. 6 singles.
Grinnell is 6-2 in dual action this season.
Match two -- Gustavus Adolphus 6, AU 1
The doubles point was lost but Tory Shafer and partner Knewtson battled hard, coming up short to lose No. 3 doubles 7-5. Barr was the lone winner for the Vikings claiming No. 1 singles 6-4, 7-6. Junior Eden Mrozek had a hard fought battle in No. 4 singles dropping a close match of 6-3, 7-5. Freshman Tyson Cowger also had a hard fought battle in No. 5 singles but came up short with a final of 7-6, 7-5.
Gustavus Adolphus is 6-2 in dual action this season.
