PALM DESERT, CALIF. -- The Augustana women's golf team heads to California to open up its spring season with a two day tournament held at the Desert Willow Golf Resort. The course plays 6,008 yards and to a par 72.

The Opponents

Augustana will compete against Hawaii-Hilo, St. Martin's, Biola, North Carolina at Pembroke and UIndy.

The Vikings

Last fall, two Vikings played the low-stick role in junior Alex Stone and senior Hannah Hankinson averaging course scores of 76 and 76.1 respectively. Stone took first place at the DII National Preview shooting a three-round score of 217. Hankinson finished second overall at the Augustana invite at the Elmwood Golf Course shooting a two-round score of 152.

Quotable

"We are excited for the spring season to begin," Head Coach Peggy Kirby said. "We are fortunate to have Sanford Power and Great Shots to prepare us for the Spring season. We host at Desert Willow with some great teams participating, and we are ready to compete.

"We are coming off of the fall with a big win at the National Preview and we want to carry that momentum into the weeks ahead. We will have a great spring break of play and practice and with the great weather at home, we should have a great spring to play golf."

Up Next

The Vikings will return back to the Golden State for the California State Monterey Bay Invite on March 23 and 24.
