Orlando, Fla. -- Augustana women's tennis started spring break play against Embry-Riddle. The Vikings found its toughest opponent so far in the season facing the Eagles, who came into this match 7-1. Augustana was able to claim victory with a score of 4-3, moving the Vikings to 12-0 on the year.
Sophomore Laura Arce Vieyra was able to take the win in No. 1 singles, besting Itxaso Blanco 6-3, 4-6, 1-0. Freshman Aleksandra Kistanova also claimed a win in No. 3 singles. Senior Anca Rusu showed veteran experience, being able to close the door on her opponent with an emphatic 7-6, 6-1 to give the Vikings the edge.
The Vikings also had a strong showing in the doubles taking two of the three contests. Arce Vieyra and junior Grace Goble edged their opponents in No. 1 doubles. Rusu and Senior Taylor Jackson also found a victory in No. 3 doubles.
Kistanova and Rusu remain undefeated in singles this season. Duo team of Rusu and Jackson also still remain undefeated.
