SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Saturday, Aug. 1, starts a new era in the Augustana women's golf program as Peggy Kirby's retirement becomes official and Coralee Jorgensen is elevated to interim head coach.
"Coach Jorgensen will be a great addition to our group of head coaches and I'm really pleased for our women's golf student-athletes that we are able to maintain our championship continuity by elevating her to the head coach position," Augustana Director of Athletics Josh Morton said. "Coach Kirby worked tirelessly to build this program and we will have a seamless transition to Coralee."
Jorgensen, an assistant coach for the Vikings for the past eight seasons, has over 25 years of experience as a Class A PGA Golf Pro and has been responsible for rebuilding successful women's couples and junior golf programs. She has continued this as the Executive Director of First Tee of South Dakota. She spent 15 years at Westward Ho Country Club of Sioux Falls where she first served as the Assistant PGA Pro and was named the Head Golf Pro in 2001, a position she held until starting at First Tee in 2013.
Over her eight years as an assistant with Augustana, Jorgensen helped guide the Vikings to six NSIC Championships, three region championships and three top-10 team finishes at the NCAA Championships. Individually, there have been 20 All-NSIC honorees, 12 all-region performers and six NSIC Champions.
Jorgensen becomes Augustana's seventh head coach in women's golf.
