SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana volleyball team kept its winning streak alive defeating MSU Moorhead 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-9) inside the Elmen Center on Friday evening. The Vikings have now captured five-straight matches.
Augustana improves to 11-5 on the season and 6-2 within the NSIC, while MSU Moorhead falls to 1-15 and 1-7 within the loop.
A killing spree by the Vikings was the key to Augustana's victory, as the Vikings poured on 45 kills..
The first set set the tone for the evening with Augustana winning 25-18, highlighted by 17 kills coming from multiple Vikings.
After a kill from the Dragons cut the Vikings lead to four at 13-9, Augustana flipped the switch. From that point, the Vikings would take control of the set scoring nine straight to make it 22-9, in favor of Augustana.
During that run, four Vikings accounted for kills in Jolie Stecher, Payton Rosendahl, Callie Hohenhaus and Kate Reimann.
Reimann would put the Dragons away in the second set with a kill to give Augustana the nod at 25-12.
The third set played out like the second set, as the Vikings capped off another 9-0 run late in the third set to give Augustana a 23-7 edge.
MSU Moorhead would score twice more before Rosendahl delivered the final kill of the set, giving Augustana it's third 3-0 sweep inside the Elmen Center this season and fifth-straight sweep.
The Vikings were led by Rosendahl with 11 kills, Avery Thorson garnering 32 assists and Bute with 14 digs.
Augustana had six Vikings accounting for kills in the victory with junior Maddy Guetter, Stecher, Reimann accumulating eight kills on the evening, Hohenhaus garnered six kills while Thorson had four.
The Dragons were led by Amanda Carlson with eight kills and eight digs while Kelly Klees led MSU Moorhead with 17 assists.
