SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-- Augustana women's golf added two student-athletes to the program on Tuesday, announced head coach Coralee Jorgensen. The two athletes signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Augustana.

Sophie Pokela | Tomah, Wisconsin | Tomah High School

Jorgensen on Pokela: "Sophie Pokela joins the Augustana Family from Tomah, Wisconsin.  She was the Mississippi Valley Conference Player of the Year. She had seven titles this fall in her last play of high school competition.  We look forward to maturing her golf game and taking her to the next level of competition."

High School: Pokela will graduate from Tomah High School in May of 2022. As a senior, Pokela was named the conference player of the year, earning third-team all-state honors and setting the school record for most matches won in a season at Tomah High School.

Lanie Veenendall | New Richmond, Wisconsin | New Richmond High School

Jorgenson on Veenendall: "Lanie Veenendall joins us from New Richmond, Wisconsin.  She has a hot putter and can hit the ball long off the tee.  Lanie played extremely well in the Wisconsin High School State Tournament firing a first round of 68 as it rained the entire day."

High School: Veenendall will graduate from New Richmond High School in May of 2022. During her senior campaign, she was the Big Rivers Conference Player of the Year and regional champion. Veenendall placed fifth at the state tournament, recording a personal-best 68 strokes. Veenendall also helped her team to an undefeated record and a low team score of 325.
