Augustana led for nearly 37 minutes of the 40-minute game and trailed just once, on the opening possessions.
After falling behind 6-1, an 11-0 run turned a 9-4 deficit into a 15-9 lead. The run started with a Bryan 3-point basket and included long-range shots from Fink and
Adam Dykman along with a fast-break layup from LeBrun.
The lead quickly built to 14 points as
Alex Distras scored from 3-point land to give AU a 26-12 lead. The largest lead of the game came at 38-14 when
Eric Tiedman scored on a jumper in the paint late in the opening half.
Augustana entered halftime holding a 42-28 lead.
South Dakota Mines was able to whittle the Vkings' lead down to eight points with 7:57 on the clock, but it was too little, too late, as Augustana ramped its offense back up to a 20-point cushion at 75-55 before settling on the final score of 82-58.
The Vikings shot 47.7 percent from the field for the game on 31-of-65 shot attempts while forcing 21 SD Mines turnovers. Off those turnovers, Augustana scored 30 points and scored 18 points on 11 offensive rebounds.
The Vikings have a one-off NSIC contest on Tuesday, traveling to Wayne State. Opening tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Wayne, America.
