Augustana Soccer Ends Regular Season at Wayne State

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augustana soccer travels to Wayne State on Friday to play its last regular-season game of the year. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.

The Game

Augustana is coming off of its ninth-straight win of the season, having defeated Upper Iowa and Winona State last weekend. The Vikings hold an NSIC record of 12-3-2 overall and 11-1-2 in NSIC conference action. 

The Wayne State Wildcats are 6-5-3 in conference play and 6-7-4 overall. The Wildcats also defeated Winona State and Upper Iowa last weekend. Wayne State secured the Upper Iowa victory in overtime with a single-goal push.

The Wildcats

Wayne State has scored 21 goals this season with senior Madison Kemp leading the team in goals with four. Junior Payton Haliburton follows behind Kemp with three goals and three assists. Both players have tallied nine points.

Eleven players for Wayne State have scored at least one goal this season. The Wildcats average 10.4 shots per game and hold a shot on goal percentage of 0.588.

There are three goalkeepers tallying minutes for Wayne State. Sophomore Katherine Hageman has recorded minutes in 15 games for the Wildcats. Hageman has a save percentage of 0.856 and has made 83 saves. Junior Regan Ott and sophomore Sidney Truman round out the goalkeepers for Wayne State. Ott has recorded a save percentage of 0.429 after marking minutes in two games between the posts. Truman's save percentage is 0.714 after three games.

The Vikings

Augustana is coming off of its program record tying ninth-consecutive victory and has nine shutouts on the season. Senior Alexis Legg recorded her first-career hat trick in last Sunday's 4-3 victory over Winona State. Legg is the current goal leader for the Vikings in goals with 11 and earned this past week's NSIC Offensive Player of the Week.

Senior Morgan Keirstead follows Legg in the category with six goals in 17 games for AU. Keirstead has also tallied seven assists and has 19 points for the Vikings. 

Junior Sylvia Fehr leads the team in assists with 13. Fehr is currently ranked fourth in the nation for assists and has recorded an assist in ten of the 17 games that she has taken the field for.

Augustana has two goalkeepers in sophomore Jillian Barkus and senior Meghan Kuntz. Barkus has made the start in 16 games for AU and holds a save percentage of 0.837. Barkus has also held down the backfield and helped Augustana to nine shutouts this year.

Up Next

Augustana has secured a home contest in the quarterfinal round of the NSIC Tournament. That game will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Morstad Field. The opponent will be determined following Friday's NSIC slate of games.
