BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Augustana volleyball team concluded its final regular season road contest by converting its second sweep of the weekend, besting Bemidji State, 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon.
Augustana improves to 17-9 on the season and 12-6 within the conference. Bemidji State falls to 2-24 on the season and 2-16 within the loop.
The deciding factor in the match had to do with kills as Augustana had 41 on a .261 hitting percentage while Bemidji State had 22 kills while holding a .034 hitting percentage.
A service ace by junior Erika Bute gave the Vikings its biggest lead at 21-13 in the first set.
Two points later, Augustana would have a three-point spurt to reach set point highlighted by a kill from junior Kia Kriener. The Vikings would take set one, 25-15 after an attack error from the Beavers.
Bemidji State competed with the Vikings in the second set, chipping away at a six-point deficit to come within three at the 22-19 mark.
The Vikings erased the potential comeback with kills from senior Avery Thorson, freshman Jolie Stecher and junior Maddy Guetter down the stretch to take set two, 25-21.
The two teams traded leads early in the third set with the score at 7-all.
Augustana would gain momentum from a four-point run with Stecher garnering two kills and senior Payton Rosendahl also accounting for a kill to make it 11-7.
The Vikings would have three more unanswered runs with the last one being a three-point burst started by a Hohehnaus kill to make it 23-14.
Senior Grace Haberland would give the Vikings match point coming off a service ace.
Guetter delivered the final kill the next play to claim set three, 25-14, and win the match 3-0.
The Vikings were led by Hohenhaus with nine kills, Thorson with 28 assists and Erika Bute with 13 digs.
The Beavers were led by Anna Averkamp with eight kills, Maddie Mackinac with 11 assists and Madison Weyker with 10 digs.

Augustana returns to the Elmen Center Friday and Saturday to finish regular season play. The Vikings will host Minnesota Duluth on Friday night, slated for a 6 p.m. start and host No. 12 St. Cloud State Saturday, at 5 p.m.
