Augustana Hoops Win Sixth-Straight Game; Tops CSP 75-58

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana men's basketball team won its sixth-straight game with a 75-58 win over Concordia-St. Paul Saturday inside the Sanford Pentagon. With the win, Augustana improves to 10-1 on the season and 4-1 in the NSIC.

Tyler Riemersma continued his double-double dominance with 23 points and 15 rebounds, his fifth double-double of 2021-22. Joining him in double-figure scoring were Jameson Bryan with 16 points, Adam Dykman with 14 points and Isaac Fink with 11 points.

The Vikings never trailed in the contest and led for 37:34 of game action while there were two ties. Much of the Vikings' dominance came in the paint as AU tallied 42 points in the painted area compared to 26 from CSP.

Other than a tie at 2-2, the other tie came at 13-13, but Dykman provided a highlight reel steal and dunk to break the tie and give Augustana an advantage it wouldn't lose for the rest of the contest. That was a 15-13 score at 11:50 to go in the first half.

That lead grew as large as 14 points in the opening half, hitting that total on a Dykman turn-around jumper in the paint for a 31-17 score with 6:39 to go in the half.

The score settled at 10 points of 39-29 at halftime.

The Golden Bears were able to whittle the lead down to just a basket midway through the second half at 46-44, then again at 51-49, but Augustana quickly turned the offense back on and had its lead rebuilt to 10 points at 62-52.

The final score of 75-58 proved to be the largest lead of the game at 15 points when Fink sank a jumper with 1:30 on the clock and held for the final buzzer.

In addition to the double-double, Riemersma tallied six assists as the Vikings recorded 18 assists on 30-made field goals. Bryan and Dylan LeBrun each recorded four on the evening.

Augustana closes out the remainder of the 2021 calendar year on the road, first at Upper Iowa on Friday and Winona State on Saturday. The Vikings then return home on Sunday, Jan. 2, hosting Wayne State with a 3:30 tip inside the Sanford Pentagon.
