SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's basketball team surged past Dakota Wesleyan, 91-67, Monday night to close out the 2021 calendar year in nonconference action inside the Sanford Pentagon.
The Vikings move to 6-5 overall while Dakota Wesleyan played the game as an exhibition with its 12-2 record.
Lauren Sees finished with a game-high 27 points while
Aislinn Duffy totaled 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. In addition,
Janelle Shiffler scored 13 points.
Augustana dominated the game with 66 points in the paint compared to 33 points from the Tigers while also holding a 28-3 edge on the fast break.
Augustana never trailed in the contest, leading 26-17 after one quarter and 40-30 at intermission. The second half saw the Vikings' lead grow by two points after three quarters before a 27-15 outscoring in the final stanza provided the 24-point margin of victory.
Augustana scored tallied a 16-0 run to end the third quarter and enter the fourth quarter while working towards the final score of 91-67.
Augustana returns to NSIC action on Jan. 2, 2022, hosting Wayne State at 5:30 p.m. inside the Sanford Pentagon.
