SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. – It was nearly identical to the season opener for the Augustana men's tennis team in a 6-1 victory Saturday night over Morningside. The Vikings move to 2-0 on the season while the Mustangs fall to 2-3. The match took place at First Serve Tennis Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Augustana claimed the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
Cade Damgaard and
Tory Shafer partnered for a 6-2 win while
Eden Mrozek and
Jakson Stoutamire prevailed 6-0.
Damgaard battled at No. 1 singles, coming away with the 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 win while Stoutamire won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Mrozek had identical scores of 6-3, 6-3 to win at No. 3 singles.
Tyson Cowger ran away with the win at No. 4 singles with the 6-0, 6-0 win. Shafer prevailed 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
Much like the season opener, the only point conceded was at No. 6 where the Vikings did not place a player.
Augustana next competes at Midland on Feb. 27 in Fremont, Nebraska.
