INDIANAPOLIS – The Augustana men's basketball team is in the first set of NCAA Division II Regional Rankings for the 2021 basketball season. Due to the disparity of games played, the schools listed in the rankings are listed as "under consideration" for championship selection and are listed in alphabetical order.
The Vikings are 8-5 in 2021 and are one of five NSIC schools in the rankings. Of the NSIC teams listed, Augustana has swept MSU Moorhead who is 8-2 while playing host to Wayne State this weekend. The Wildcats enter at 9-5.
Final selections for the six-team regional will be announced at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, on NCAA.com.
The 2021 Central Regional is hosted by Northern State in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The quarterfinal round is slated for March 13 with the semifinals March 14 and regional championship slated for March 16. Winners advance to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Elite Eight in Evansville, Indiana, March 24-27.
