WAYNE, Neb. -- The Augustana women's basketball team completed the weekend sweep against Wayne State on Saturday afternoon inside the Rice Auditorium 87-76.
With the win, the Vikings are elevated to 11-4 on the season and 10-4 in the NSIC and are the NSIC South Division Champions. In 2021, the NSIC is only awarding divisional champions due to only playing divisional play.
2021 marks the second time in the last four years that the Vikings have captured a conference championship, also achieving the feat in 2018.
The Wildcats drop to 6-10 and 5-9 within the conference.
Augustana shot 52.3 percent from the field for the game and made 11-of-25 3-pointers with four Vikings hitting double-digit scoring on the day.
The Vikings were led by Aislinn Duffy with 22 points and seven rebounds. Van Veldhuizen joined her with seven rebounds.
For the second-consecutive day, Augustana found numbers coming off the bench with 23 points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Junior Vishe' Rabb scored a season-high 15 points to go with six rebounds and two steals.
Augustana also dominated the paint with 42 points within the rectangle nearest the basket compared to just 26 from WSC.
Augustana led from start-to-finish and built a lead as large as 18 points early in the second quarter and again late in the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats were led by Erin Norling and Haley Busse both with18 points while Busse and Kassidy Pingel led the team in rebounds with four a piece.
The NSIC will announce the official bracket for the NSIC Tournament Sunday afternoon. However, by virtue of being the No. 1 seed in the south division, the Vikings will play on Thursday at 1 p.m. against the north division's No. 4 seed.
