ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Augustana women's tennis team won its seventh-straight match Saturday with a 7-0 sweep of Rockhurst in St. Joseph, Missouri. Augustana improves to 8-1 on the season while Rockhurst suffers its first loss with a 2-1 record.
The Vikings claimed the doubles point with a 6-0 and a pair of 6-1 victories.
Emily Granson and
Aleksandra Kistanova won 6-0 at No. 3 doubles while the duos of
Florentia Hadjigeorgiou and
Valeriya Monko at No. 1 and
Laura Arce Vieyra and
Grace Goble at No. 2 doubles each won 6-1.
Monko moved to 9-0 on the season with a 6-0, 6-2, win at No. 1 singles, continuing a stellar start to her career. Hadjigeorgiou prevailed 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 singles.
Also prevailing in singles action were Kistanova, Granson and
Margarita Chouliara. Arce Vieyra was leading 6-0, 3-0, at No. 3 singles before winning by opponent retirement.
Augustana's next scheduled match is slated for March 27 when it travels to Bismarck, North Dakota, to face UMary. The Vikings will also face MSU Moorhead the following day in Bismarck.
