JOPLIN, Mo. – Augustana softball went 6-0 over the six games played from Saturday to Monday including a sweep of Missouri Southern Monday in Joplin, Missouri. The third-ranked Vikings topped the Lions 8-0 in game one and 11-3 in game two. Both games were five-inning run-rule contests.

Augustana improves to 10-2 on the season while Missouri Southern, of the MIAA, falls to 8-10 overall. The Vikings have now won seven-straight games, the longest in the NSIC.

Over the course of the two games,
Kendall Cornick tallied five hits, five RBI and four runs scored.
Mary Pardo tallied her second home run of the season in the day's second game.

Game One: No. 3 Augustana 8, Missouri Southern 0
Augustana did all the damage in the top of the first and cruised to victory in the 8-0 win.
Abby Lien plated the first run, scoring
Kendall Cornick and the quick 1-0 lead.
Delaney Young made it 2-0 when she singled into right field scoring
Torri Chute.

The lead then doubled to 4-0 as
Amanda Dickmeyer doubled into centerfield, scoring Lien and Young. Hits from
Abbie Lund,
Mary Pardo and Cornick ballooned the lead to 8-0 which proved to be the final score although it was just the top of the first inning.

Ashley Mickschl twirled a five-inning complete game giving up just two hits and two base runners the entire game. She struck out five in her first shutout of the season and first since the final game of the truncated 2020 season.

Cornick led the way with three hits in the game, going 3-for-3 with a run scored and RBI. Dickmeyer tallied a pair of RBI as a total of eight batters had a hit.
Abbie Lund swiped two bases while Cornick added a steal to her impressive game.

Game Two: No. 3 Augustana 11, Missouri Southern 3
The Vikings narrowly fell behind 1-0 in the opening frame but responded with four runs scored in the second. All four runs came courtesy off the bat of
Kendall Cornick as she singled up the middle, clearing the once-loaded bases. Cornick circled around the diamond on an error from the centerfielder.

Augustana then added a run in the third and fourth innings and placed five runners across the plate in the fifth inning.

Torri Chute scored on a
Delaney Young double in the third while Cornick touched home in the fourth on a batted ball from
Ashley Mickschl.

It was an offensive barrage in the fifth inning, all with two outs. After
Amanda Dickmeyer and
Olivia Hazelbaker reached base via walk and hit-by-pitch,
Abbie Lund singled scoring Dickmeyer. The next batter,
Mary Pardo, connected on her second home run of the season, a three-run shot into left field and the 10-3 lead. The final run came from Cornick as Mickschl singled into right field.

Amber Elliott picked up the victory after tossing four innings and giving up five hits.
Makayla Williams made her Viking debut, securing the final out of the game.

In the batter's box, Cornick finished her torrid day with two more hits, three runs and four RBI. Lund was 2-for-3Â with two runs while Pardo tallied the three RBI.

Augustana, who concludes the nonconference portion of its season 10-2, begins NSIC action on Tuesday at Wayne State. First pitch from Wayne, America, is slated for 1 p.m.
