HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Augustana men's tennis team bounced back from yesterday's loss with a near sweep against Benedict College in Hilton Head, South Carolina, on Thursday winning 6-1.
The Vikings move to 4-6 on the season. Benedict College is now 0-1.
In doubles play, both No. 1 and No. 2 claimed victories. No. 1 doubles played by Cade Damgaard and North Knewtson won 6-3. Eden Mrozek and Tyson Cowger also won 6-3 in No. 2 doubles.
The Vikings swept singles 1-5 Damgaard won in the No. 1 slot in the closest match of the day, going 7-5, 4-6, 10-7.
Mrozek won No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-3, Knewtson won the No. 3 slot going 6-3, 6-1, Tyson Cowger claimed victory in the No. 4 slot winning 6-0, 6-3, and Tory Shafer rounded out the wins going 6-4, 6-4, in No. 5 singles.
Augustana gave up No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles due to default.
The Vikings return to action next week against Creighton University April 10. The match is slated for 10 a.m.
