Augustana Women’s Golf Brings Home Second-Place Finish in Wayne

WAYNE, Neb. -- The Augustana women's golf team brought home second-place honors Monday afternoon after round two of the Wayne State College Invitational at the Wayne Country Club.  

The Vikings finished just eight strokes behind the winner of the tournament, Nebraska-Kearney. 

Individually, the Vikings were led by sophomore Molly Stevens. Stevens finished in second-place at the tournament with a two-day score of 155 and parred the course on day one with a 72 which also doubled as the lowest round shot by a Viking this season.

Freshman Lauren Tims and senior Alex Stone followed Stevens, both tying for fourth-place at the tournament with two-day scores of 158. Tims golfed rounds of 77 and 81 while Stone posted a 74 and 84. 

Senior Natalie Young finished in a tie for ninth-place at the tournament with a two-day score of 161. Young shaved three strokes off of her day one score on day two (82 to 79). 

Competing as an individual, junior Kait Asklund tied for 17th-place with a two-day score of 165 with rounds of 78 and 87. 

Fellow junior Hanna Morin finished the tournament in a tie for 23rd-place with a two-day score of 168 with rounds of 82 and 86. 

As a team, the Vikings also posted their best round of the season with a 305 in round one.

Augustana is now set to host a weekend of golf Saturday and Sunday at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D.
