AUSTIN, Texas – Augustana men's basketball student-athlete Tyler Riemersma is a two-time Academic All-America selection. The senior is one of 15 honorees across three teams announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Hailing from Bloomington, Minnesota, Riemersma is one of four repeat performers to the list and becomes just the third men's basketball player in the history of the Vikings' basketball program to have earned more than one Academic All-America accolade.

A senior academically, Riemersma was named to the Second Team with his 3.90 GPA while majoring in Data Science. Previously this season, Riemersma earned Academic All-NSIC honors and was named to the CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District 7 squad.

In 2021, Riemersma led Augustana with 13.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. His rebound average led the NSIC and ranked 14th in the nation. He also tallied 3.4 offensive rebounds per game which ranked second in the NSIC.

The Second Team All-NSIC South Division selection was a two-time NSIC Player of the week. He secured an NSIC-high of 22 rebounds against Wayne State and dished a career-best eight assists in the Vikings' win over Sioux Falls on Feb. 12. In all, he totaled eight double-doubles, a mark that ranked second in the NSIC.

Riemersma joins Rich Chapman and John Ritterbusch as multi-time Academic All-America honorees for the Augustana men's basketball program. Chapman earned back-to-back honors in 1976 and 1977 while Ritterbusch's came in 1974 and 1975.
