LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For the third time, the Augustana softball coaching staff led by Gretta Melsted has been named the NFCA Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
Melsted is in her 15^th season at Augustana and is joined by a coaching staff of Kelsey Thompson, Abby Chandler, Haley Covias, Maria Munkvold and Christina Delzer.
 
Augustana won the 2021 NSIC Regular Season Championship with a 28-2 league record, captured the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship and is currently playing at the NCAA Division II National Championship site.
 
Augustana's record currently sits at 48-6, the most wins in NCAA Division II while also maintaining the nation's highest winning percentage at .933.
 
The Vikings have spent six weeks atop the NFCA Top-25 poll in 2021 including an impressive four weeks as a unanimous No. 1 selection.
 
Melsted and her staff have also been named the Central Region Staff of the Year in 2019 and 2012.
 
Augustana's season continues Friday at the NCAA Championship in Denver, Colorado, facing Biola at noon (CT).
