5/4/2021 4:32:00 PM

St. Joseph, Mo. -- The Augustana women's golf team moved up a spot on day two of the NCAA Super Regional Tournament at the St. Joseph Country Club and now resides in fourth place.

At 626 strokes, the Vikings sit just five strokes behind third-place Arkansas Tech and just 11 strokes behind first-place Rogers State.

"Today was moving day for our team," head coach Coralee Jorgensen said. "They were steady and stayed strong. It'll need to be more of the same tomorrow.

"It's always fun to be the underdogs and I'd say that we have some grit!"

After two rounds of golf, senior Alex Stone leads the way for the Vikings and is in a tie for eighth place. The senior has golfed a 77 each day and moved up seven spots on day two. For the tournament, she sits 10 over par on the par-72 course.

Following closely behind Stone is junior Hanna Morin. Morin dropped two strokes off of her day one score (79 to 77) on day two and jumped 15 spots. She is currently tied for 12th place.

Senior Natalie Young is just behind Morin and shaved four strokes off of her day one total (81 to 77) on day two. The senior moved up 12 spots on Tuesday and is currently tied for 20th place.

Following Young is sophomore Molly Stevens. Stevens turned in a day-two score of 84 and is currently tied for 22nd place with a two-day score of 159.

Freshman Lauren Tims shaved five strokes off of her day one score (88 to 83) on day two and has a two-day score of 171.

The Vikings hit the links one more time Wednesday morning with a tee-time of 8:30 a.m. If Augustana is able to finish in the top-three, it will move on to the NCAA Championships in Detroit, Michigan.
