EDMOND, Okla. -- The No. 20 Augustana women's tennis team's season comes to an end at the NCAA Central Region semifinals tournament falling 4-2 to No. 16 Washburn on Saturday, at the Edmond Centre Court in Edmond, Oklahoma.

The Ichabods gained momentum claiming the doubles point with wins in all three matches. No. 12 ranked freshmen duo Valeriya Monko and Florentia Hadjigeorgiou were bested in No. 1 doubles losing 6-2.

Washburn would also claim the first victory in singles play as Margarita Chouliara was defeated 6-2, 6-0, by Maja Jung to give the Ichabods a 2-0 lead.

Emily Granson was bested by Washburn's Cadence Lynn in No. 6 singles leaving the Vikings with little room for error down the stretch with the Ichabods having a 3-0 lead.

Two victories by the freshmen Monko and Hadjigeorgiou would bring the match to 3-2 with just No. 3 singles remaining. Monko claimed No. 1 singles winning 6-3, 7-5, while No. 40 Hadjigeorgiou defeated Svea Crohn in 6-1, 6-1, fashion.

The Vikings fell just short with Laura Arce Vieyra falling 7-5, 6-1, in the No. 3 slot to give the Ichabods the victory. 

No. 5 singles with Aleksandra Kistanova went unfinished.

The Vikings season comes to an end at the NCAA Central Region tournament, finishing the season at 18-3.
