SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana men's basketball head coach
Tom Billeter has added Veron Eze to its 2021-22 signing class. Eze is a 6-4 shooting guard from Ipswich, England.
"We are excited to add such a versatile player," Billeter said. "Veron brings an excellent skill set and energy to our team. We are anxious to get him here and look forward to working together towards next season."
Eze has spent the past couple of weeks in Israel competing for Great Britain's U23 FIBA 3x3 team as part of the Europe Cup Qualifier.
Prior to representing his country on the 3x3 world stage, Eze was a member of the Great Britain U16 and U18 national teams and served as a team captain on the U16 squad.
As a member of the U18 team, Eze saw nearly 13 minutes of action per game while totaling 31 points over the seven-game event taking place in Greece. As captain of the U16 Great Britain team, Eze saw action in eight games in Bulgaria where he helped lead the team to a showing in the semifinals.
In his prep career, he was named to the England U15 All-Tournament Team and is a two-time EYBL All-Tournament selection. He is also an EABL First Team Player while playing for Barking Abbey. This past season, he earned points in the voting process and finished in the top-10 for both the Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the NBL Division I. He tallied 10.1 points per game while securing 2.6 rebounds and dishing 1.5 assists per outing. He also averaged a steal per game for the London Lions.
In the 2019-20 campaign for Barking Abbey, Eze tallied 14.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Along with fellow 2021-22 signee Alex Distras, Eze attended the Deng Camp where he was named the No. 9 wing in his class.
The men's basketball team now has four total newcomers with Zac Johnson, Angelo Winkel, Distras and Eze.
