Augustana Places Three on CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Teams

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.. -- Augustana senior swimmer Taylor Beagle, senior golfer Alex Stone and sophomore tennis player Tory Shafer have been named to the CoSIDA District 7 Academic All-District At-Large Teams announced Thursday.

Beagle, a biology major with a 3.94 GPA, had a record-breaking season in 2021. The Lead, South Dakota, native repeated as NSIC Swimmer of the Year along with NSIC Swimmer of the Meet, claiming three conference titles in the 400-IM, 1,000-free, and 1650-free. She also earned First Team All-America in the 1,000-free placing eighth, along with three Second Team All-America honors in the 400-IM, 500-free, and 1650-free. This is Beagle's second year being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

Stone, an accounting major with a 3.95 GPA, earned NSIC All-Tournament Team honors after placing fifth at the NSIC Championships. Her season low shot of 72 was recorded in the first round of the NSIC Championships.

Shafer, an exploratory studies major with a 3.91 GPA, went 6-6 in singles play this season while going 3-7 in doubles play.

The 2020 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic AllAmerica® honorees will be announced from June 16-19.
