The Games
Augustana holds a 12-2-1 record against Concordia-St. Paul all-time and handed CSP its only conference loss in 2019. The Vikings have had a tougher time with Minnesota State with the Mavericks holding the edge at 28-2 in the all-time series.
The weekend begins NSIC action for all three schools with Friday's matchup serving as the NSIC opener. Minnesota State plays at Wayne State prior to the contest on Sunday.
The Golden Bears
Concordia-St. Paul's last matchup against the Vikings was on November 3, 2019, where the Vikings claimed the victory with a final score of 3-2. Senior defender Cayla Renwick was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week after Concordia-St. Paul sealed a shutout win, 7-0, over Rockhurst. Renwick helped hold Rockhurst to only four shots on goal in the contest. The Golden Bears, the reigning NSIC Champions, enter Friday's contest with a 1-2 record. One of the losses for CSP came in the season-opener at nationally-ranked Missouri Western.
The Mavericks
The 2019 and 2021 Preseason NSIC Player of the Year, junior forward Jenny Vetter, was Minnesota State's leading scorer last season. During the 2019 season, Vetter led Minnesota State in goals, shots on net, points, and game-winning goals. The Mavericks are 2-1 this season, and coming off of a 1-0 win at Northwest Missouri State. Vetter scored the game-winning goal for MSU in that matchup. The lone loss for MSU was at No. 7 Central Missouri in a 4-3, high-scoring affair.
The Vikings
Augustana is coming off of a road victory against Nebraska-Kearney. Senior Alexis Legg scored the game-winning goal for the Vikings in overtime to send AU to their first victory of the season. Legg scored in the second overtime period inside the box, scoring Augustana's second goal of its season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jillian Barkus recorded her first shutout of the year against UNK. During 98 minutes of play, Barkus stopped all four shots that she faced, contributing to the victory.
Augustana is 1-2 on the season so far, and it is looking to keep their all-time winning streak alive against Concordia-St. Paul, and switch the tides on the Minnesota State Mavericks.
