SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- After a short break from competition, the Augustana volleyball team heads back out on the road for a match at No. 8 Southwest Minnesota State, in Marshall, Minnesota, on Tuesday night, slated for a 6 p.m. start. The contest concludes 11-straight games on the road to open the season for Augustana.

About the Mustangs
The No. 8 Mustangs hold a record of 10-0 and opened up the start of conference play going 2-0 against Bemidji State (3-1) and Minnesota Crookston (3-0).
The match against Augustana will be the Mustang's first home match of the season.
SMSU is led by Angela Young averaging 4.24 kills per set, Alisa Bengen is averaging 10.82 assists per set, and Payton Hjerleid is averaging 3.79 digs per set.
About the Vikings
The Vikings are off to a 6-4 start on the season and are 1-1 in conference play. This past weekend was a promising one for Augustana as the Vikings took No. 23 St. Cloud State to five sets.
Augustana bounced back on Saturday and took down No. 16 Minnesota Duluth team (3-1).
Junior Maddy Guetter had a lot to do with the outcome of the matches as she had back-to-back double-doubles, having 21 kills, a career-high, and 14 digs against St. Cloud State and 20 kills, and 10 digs in the win against Minnesota Duluth.
Avery Thorson also was a big contributor on the weekend, against St. Cloud State, as she set a new career-high assists with 57.
Augustana is led by Guetter with 3.48 kills per set, Thorson with 10.25 assists per set, and Bute with 4.90 digs per set.
One Last Thing
After being on the road for the first 11 matches of the season, the Vikings will be playing the first home event of the season, Friday, hosting Bemidji State at 6 p.m.
The last time Augustana played a match inside the Elmen Center was on Oct. 27, 2019, when the Vikings hosted Winona State.
