Augustana Soccer Heads East for Friday Match; Set for Sunday Match at Morstad Field

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--The Augustana soccer team takes to the road on Friday for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Upper Iowa Peacocks. On Sunday, the Vikings will host the Winona State Warriors at Morstad Field for Senior day. Kickoff for Sunday's match is slated for 1 p.m.

The Peacocks

Upper Iowa holds a record of 2-9-4 overall and 1-7-4 in NSIC play. In their last conference matches, the Peacocks fell to Northern State 1-0 last Friday, then tied MSU Moorhead 1-1 on Sunday.

Offensively, Katie Samuels, Haley Ramberg and Jordan Zarate lead UIU with two goals each. Samuels leads the team with five points. Three goalkeepers have recorded minutes on the field for Upper Iowa, with Isabelle Wagner making 10 starts. Wagner's save percentage sits at 0.647 having faced 127 shots.

The Warriors

Winona State is 7-4-4 overall this season and holds an NSIC record of 5-3-4. The Warriors defeated MSU Moorhead 3-0 last Friday before tying Northern State 1-1 on Sunday. Prior to the Sunday match against Augustana, the Warriors are set to face Wayne State on Friday night.

Riley Harmon has netted six goals for WSU and is the team leader with 13 points. Harmon has made starts in all 15 games for Winona State. Jaida Wiege follows closely behind Harmon with five goals and 11 points. Chloe Swanson has started in 13 games as the goalkeeper for the Warriors. Swanson has a save percentage of 0.821 and has faced 131 shots.

The Vikings

Augustana has an NSIC record of 7-4-1 and an overall record of 7-6-2. The Vikings split last weekend with a 2-0 victory over St. Cloud State and a 1-0 loss to Minnesota Duluth on Sunday.

Josie Arduser, Morgan Keirstead and Sylvia Fehr have scored five goals each this season. Arduser leads the team with 14 points after totaling four assists. Keirstead and Ellie Schock have each netted two game-winning goals.

Sylvia Fehr became the Augustana soccer career assists leader after adding her 20th career assist on Arduser's goal in AU's 4-3 win over MSU Moorhead. Fehr totaled 15 assists last season, a single season record, and four assists in 2019, to enter 2022 tied for the career record at 19. She surpassed Stephanie Goos who played for the Vikings from 2007-10.

Jillian Barkus has made the start in all 15 games that the Vikings have played this season. Barkus has a save percentage of 0.797 having faced 145 shots.
