FAYETTE, Iowa–The Augustana soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Upper Iowa on Friday night. The Vikings shutout the Peacocks in their last regular season road game to improve to 8-6-2 overall and 8-4-1 in NSIC action. Upper Iowa drops to 2-10-4 overall and 1-7-4 in the loop.
Match Moments
GOAL (AU) 3'--Sylvia Fehr struck fast and early, giving the Vikings a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the match. A shot by Josie Arduser was knocked aside by the UIU goalkeeper and Grace Douglas sent the ball to Fehr to score. Douglas picked up the assist on Fehr's sixth goal of the season.
CHANCE (AU) 28'-- Augustana saw an opportunity to increase the lead before the half when Morgan Keirstead pitched the ball right to Ellie Schock. Schock's shot was high but the UIU goalkeeper gathered the ball to make the save.
GOAL (AU) 68'--Scoring her first goal of the season, Katherine Pelton netted AU's second goal to push the lead over the Peacocks in the second half. Pelton's shot was high right from outside the penalty box and the goalkeeper was unable to make the save.
CHANCE (UIU) 87'-- Upper Iowa had a solid opportunity when the Peacocks were able to draw a penalty kick. The kick was taken by Nora Nouhaili and the shot was low and to the right, allowing Jillian Barkus to dive for the ball and make the save.
One More Thing
Barkus recorded her fifth shutout of the season with the victory. The Vikings logged 21 total shots with 12 shots on goal. UIU totaled nine shots and four shots on target.
