ST PAUL, Minn. – The Augustana women's basketball team could not stop a late offensive run by Concordia-St. Paul, falling short of victory, 65-64, in Gangelhoff Center on Friday night.
Augustana (12-8, 8-8) had a 12-point lead with 7:45 to go in the game before Concordia-St. Paul (15-7, 11-7) went on a 9-to-3 run to close the deficit to five points with under six minutes to play.
The two teams would trade baskets the next few possessions with a 3-pointer by Aislinn Duffy putting Augustana back up by eight points with under three minutes left in regulation at 64-56.
CSP would score seven-straight points to bring the game to within one at 64-63 with 48 seconds to go.
With 4 seconds to go, Concordia-St. Paul would take its first lead of the second half with a driving layup to make it 65-64.
The Vikings would take a timeout to draw up a final play but ultimately came up short, with the scoreboard favoring the Golden Bears when the final buzzer sounded.
The Vikings were led by Vishe' Rabb with 14 points while Duffy finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Lauren Sees accounted for 13 points to be the third scorer in double-figures.
Kenzie Rensch made the most of her 20 minutes of action, having nine points, seven rebounds and nine steals.
The Golden Bears were led by Syndey Zgutowicz with 20 points while Lindsey grabbed eight rebounds.
