BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The NSIC Champion Augustana men's basketball team was well represented in the postseason Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference awards announced Thursday. Head coach Tom Billeter earned his second NSIC Coach of the Year honor while Tyler Riemersma was named the NSIC South Division Player of the Year. In addition, Dylan LeBrun was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Year.

Along with the major awards, three Vikings were named to the All-Conference teams with Adam Dykman joining Riemersma as a First Team All-NSIC selection. Isaac Fink was named to the second team.

Riemersma, hailing from Bloomington, Minnesota, averaged a double-double of 18.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per game over the 19-games of NSIC action. He is the only player in the league to average a double-double as 2021-22 marks the third-straight season he has done exactly that. In the NSIC clinching game at USF, he tallied a career-best 31 points.

He totaled the league's best rebound total in a single game with 19 in the win over Winona State. In addition, he shot 59 percent from the field during NSIC play and ranked second at AU with 62 assists, an average of 3.4 per game. On Jan. 8, he hit the Augustana milestone of 1,000 points, becoming the 35th member of the prestigious club at AU.

In addition to the statistical side of things, Riemersma led the NSIC with six Player of the Week honors in 2021-22.

LeBrun, charged with defending the opponent's best scorer, totaled 15 steals and 13 blocks over the NSIC season. The Flandreau, South Dakota, native's defensive skills were on full display when he twice held the NSIC's leading scorer to an average of 5.5 points and 20 percent shooting. He consistently proved himself throughout the season as a lock-down defender. Offensively, he became a 1,000-point scorer, hitting the mark against Winona State on Feb. 4.

Dykman, hailing from Fremont, Nebraska, averaged 14.7 points and 6.2 rebounds over the NSIC season. He scored a season-high 24 points in the win at Bemidji State on Jan. 28, also eclipsing 1,000 points at Augustana in the same game. He secured a season-high 13 rebounds in the win at Concordia-St. Paul on Feb. 11.

Fink, a native of Springfield, Minnesota, earned second-team honors after ranking third on the Vikings with a 14.1 point per game average. One of the top 3-point threats in the league, he led AU with 39 made long-range shots during the NSIC campaign. He also averaged 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Billeter is in his 18th season at Augustana and led the Vikings to their third NSIC Championship. During the season, he claimed his 350th win at Augustana with the win over Bemidji State (Jan. 28) and just three games later, claimed his 450th overall victory as a head coach. Under his tutelage, he has coached three NSIC Players of the Year (Daniel Jansen in 2014-15 and 2015-16 along with Riemersma) and three NSIC Defensive Players of the Year (Casey Schilling 2014-15 and 2015-16 along with LeBrun).

Augustana, the NSIC South Division No. 1 seed, opens NSIC Tournament play on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. facing Southwest Minnesota State inside the Sanford Pentagon.
