Women’s Golf Places Third at Spring Fling

PALM DESERT, CALIF. – The Augustana women's golf team competed in the Augustana Spring Fling at Desert Willow Golf Resort, placing third as a team.

This two-day event hosted, by the Vikings, saw seven teams competing and the winner of the event was Indianapolis with a score of 606 (303-303). The Greyhounds were then followed by Grand Valley State who had 612 strokes (308-304) and Augstana with 632 strokes (323-309). 

Leading the way for the Vikings was Molly Stevens where she finished in a tie for third with a score of 152 (78-74). She was just 2-over-par on day two and had bridies on both of the front nine par threes. Stevens would also have the most pars in the tournament with 23. 

Natalie Young placed second for the Vikings where she shot a 5-over (77) on day two and finished the tournament tied for 13th with a score of 159 (82-77). 

Other scores for the Vikings would be Lauren Tims finishing in a tie for 14th place with 160 (83-77). Hanna Morin finished in a tie for 16th with 161 (80-81). Rounding out the team of five was Kait Asklund where she finished in a tie for 28th with a score of 171 (87-84). 

Also the Vikings would place two individual players in the top 20 with Rachel Schwarz finishing in a tie for 16th with a score of 161 (81-80) and Shannon McCormick placing in a tie for 20th with 166 strokes (85-81). 

The Vikings women's golf team will next compete March 21-22 in the Midwest Intercollegiate Invite at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar, Missouri.
