Berth to Elite Eight on the Line for Augustana Men’s Basketball

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana men's basketball team is set for the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Vikings face Northwest Missouri State in the Sweet 16 contests inside the Sanford Pentagon.
 
Advance purchase of tickets is recommended for Tuesday's Region Championship and can be purchased on Ticketmaster.com, at the Sanford Pentagon Box Office or by phone at 605-312-7917.
 
The winner of the contest will advance to the Elite Eight in Evansville, Indiana, from March 22-26.

Pregame Party and Pep Rally
There will be a pregame party and pep rally taking place at the Blue Rock Bar & Grill. The fun gets underway at 5 p.m.
 
How to Watch
The contest will also be aired exclusively by Midco Sports. There will not be a free stream with the only way to watch by being in the building, watching on Midco Sports or on the app, Midco Sports Plus. More information on Midco Sports Plus can be found here.
 
Fans can watch on Midco Sports, channel 622. In addition, the game will be broadcast on 29 affiliate cable systems throughout North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. If you are in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, you can watch the game on Comcast Xfinity channel 999.
 
About the Bearcats
Northwest Missouri State is in the regional final for the fourth-straight year and is the defending national champion. The Bearcats are 30-5 in 2021-22 and are in the Sweet 16 after wins over MSU Moorhead (69-54) and Washburn (70-55).
 
Northwest Missouri State is led by reigning NCAA Division II Player of the Year Trevor Hudgins. He averages 23 points and 38 minutes per game. His point total of 804 this season leads the country while his point per game average is fifth. Wes Dream averages 13.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per outing and has recorded double-doubles in each game of the NCAA Tournament.
 
For the season, the Bearcats score 77.1 points per game and give up 62.4.
 
About the Vikings
Augustana is in the region championship after toppling Southwestern Oklahoma State and Upper Iowa in the Rounds of 64 and 32. In the 83-64 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State, Tyler Riemersma led the way with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Isaac Fink added 20 points as the Viking defense held SWOSU to just 34 points over the final 27 minutes of action.
 
Against Upper Iowa, Riemersma again did the heavy lifting with a team-high 17 points but was aided with 15 points from Fink, 11 from Adam Dykman and 10 from Jameson Bryan. Both Riemersma and Dykman recorded double-doubles in the 65-60 win.
 
The Vikings tally 76.8 points per game and run the NSIC's top defense at 64.3 points per game. That defense ranks in the top-20 in the nation while the Vikings' scoring margin of +12.4 is 16th-best in NCAA DII.
 
One Last Thing
Since 2016, there have been three different schools to win the NCAA Division II National Championship. Two of them will be on the floor of Heritage Court in the Sanford Pentagon on Tuesday night.
