Women’s Golf: Five Things to Know Ahead of the NSIC Championship

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's golf team opens up play at the NSIC Championship on Friday. The three-round event runs Friday through Sunday at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri. 

Friday and Saturday will have tee times beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday will be a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. Live stats will be available at GoAugie.com/Live

The Vikings
Augustana has competed in five events in the spring, finishing in the top-10 in all events with their highest finish of first in the Augustana Easter Lily Invitational. Molly Stevens has posted the lowest stroke average in the NSIC this season at 76.95. Stevens, Lauren Tims and Natalie Young have all won events this season. The Vikings lineup has also produced 22 top-10 finishes this season heading into the championships.

The Field 
Augustana leads the NSIC with a 311.7 average on the season. Wayne State is in the second spot at 322.9, and third is Upper Iowa at 325.5. 
Rounding out the top-five is Concordia-St. Paul at 326.3 and Minnesota State at 327.0. 

The Course 
Paradise Pointe Golf Complex is located in Smithville, Missouri, just north of Kansas City. The teams tee off on the Outlaw Course which plays 5,930 yards to a par 72. 

Preseason Poll 
Augustana was selected to finish first place in the NSIC Preseason Coaches Poll, with Natalie Young being named the Vikings Preseason Golfer to Watch. The Viking tallied 139 points with nine first place votes. 

Last Year 
Augustana won the 2021 NSIC Championship, which was held at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton, Minnesota. The highest finishers for the Vikings were Lauren Tims and Natalie Young who were tied for third in the event at 237 strokes over the three day event.
