SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's golf team cleaned up in the awards category, taking the NSIC Player of the Year, NSIC Coach of the Year and three First Team All-NSIC selections.
Molly Stevens earned the NSIC Player of the Year while
Coralee Jorgensen earned her second-straight NSIC Coach of the Year.
In addition,
Natalie Young and
Lauren Tims join Stevens on the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team.
Stevens, hailing from Northfield, Minnesota, led the NSIC with a 76.6 stroke average entering the NSIC Championship. She owns eight top-10 finishes, five top-5 placings and won the Mustang Invite in September. In that event, she finished 2-under-par with a season-best 3-under-par 69 in the opening round. That 69 proved to be the low score of the season for the NSIC.
Jorgensen, fresh off leading the Vikings to the NSIC Championship, earns her second-straight Coach of the Year honor in her second season leading Augustana. The Vikings led the NSIC in stroke average by more than 11 shots per round at 311.7. The second-best was Wayne State at 322.9. The Vikings also owned the six lowest rounds of the year in the conference, led by a 299 at the Mustang Invite.
Young, a native of Rapid City, South Dakota, earns the all-conference accolade after ranking fourth in the league with a 79.0 average per round. She placed in the top-5 on two occasions and owned a top round of 72. She won the season-opening Tracy Lane Memorial.
Tims, hailing from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, ranked seventh in the NSIC with her 79.9 stroke average. She owned the fourth-lowest round in the NSIC this year with her 71 at the Newman Spring Invitational. She won the Augustana Easter Lily Invitational when she tallied 151 strokes over the two rounds.
Augustana will next compete at the NCAA Central Super Regional May 2-4 at Hot Springs Country Club hosted by Henderson State.
