NEWTON, Kan. – The Augustana Women's golf team played to a seventh-place finish at the Newman Invitational taking place at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas. The Vikings finished the tournament with 622 strokes (321-301).
The Vikings were one of the 18 schools competing in the Newman Invitational which was won by Rogers State with 604 strokes.
Molly Stevens led the way for the Vikings shooting a 76 on day one before shooting an even-par 72 on day two to finish in a tie for fourth with 148 strokes. Stevens would also have the best average in the tournament on par fives at a 4.75. She was 2-under on par fives during the two day event.
Lauren Tims placed in the top-20 for the team when she would end up 10 over for the tournament (83-71). She would have the best round on the Vikings in day two with her one-under-par. Tims would finish in a tie for 16th.
Shannon McCormick would place third on the team with 161 strokes (82-79) to place in a tie for 43rd in the event.
Natalie Young tallied scores of 82 and 79 to place in a tie for 52nd in the event.
Rounding out the team of five was
Hanna Morin when she placed 76th in the event with rounds of 85 and 83 for a total of 168 strokes.
Competing as an individual for the Vikings was
Masy Mock where she placed in a tie for 39th with 158 strokes (83-75).
The Vikings will next tee off April 11-12 at the Wildcat Classic at the Wayne Country Club in Wayne, America.
