SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana Director of Athletics Josh Morton has announced the spring winners of the AD's Academic Achievement Award. For Spring Semester 2022, Augustana men's cross country and Viking women's golf claimed the top GPA for the respective genders in the athletics department.
 
The men's cross country team earns the award for the third-straight semester with a 3.605 GPA while the women's golf team earns the honor for the first time with a 3.659 GPA.
 
"We started this award to showcase the academic excellence of our student-athletes and once again this semester our entire department made it difficult to win it," Morton said. "These two programs are the epitome of building champions as both also won the NSIC in their sport.
 
"In addition, every sport at Augustana carries a team GPA of 3.0 or better, showcasing just how great our student-athletes are."
 
The award was first handed out for the Fall 2020 semester and is given out twice a year to the highest GPA amongst each gender at Augustana.
