Augustana Men’s Basketball Heads to Northern Minnesota

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana men's basketball team returns to the road for a pair of contests in Northern Minnesota. First, the Vikings face the Huskies of St. Cloud State at 5:30 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, Augustana travels to the edge of Lake Superior to face Minnesota Duluth at 3:30 p.m.

About the Huskies
St. Cloud State is under the direction of first-year head coach Quincy Henderson and holds a 7-12 record in 2022-23. Within the NSIC, the Huskies are 4-10. SCSU has dropped three-straight games with losses to Upper Iowa (72-57), Southwest Minnesota State (69-58) and Sioux Falls (83-73). The last win was a 74-70 victory over Winona State on Jan. 13.
 
The Huskies place four student-athletes in double-figure scoring led by Matthew Willert and his 15.1 points per outing. He is joined by Tommy Chatman (13.9), Luke Taylor (11.1) and Jalen Griffin (10.1) in the double-figure scoring mark. Chatman, a transfer to SCSU from Northern State, leads the squad in rebounding with 5.2 per game.
 
About the Bulldogs
Minnesota Duluth, the NSIC Preseason favorite, holds a 14-6 overall record and is 10-4 in the NSIC. The Bulldogs are in third place of the NSIC standings, sitting two games behind MSU Moorhead. The Bulldogs split the past two weekends with wins over Upper Iowa and Sioux Falls but losses to Winona State and Southwest Minnesota State.
 
Drew Blair leads UMD in scoring at 19.4 points per game while dishing a team-best 2.4 assists per game. He is joined in double-figure scoring by Charlie Katona (12.7), Austin Andrews (12.2) and Joshua Brown (11.2). Andrews is the reigning NSIC North Division Player of the Year after his 2021-22 campaign saw him average 18.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
 
About the Vikings
Augustana looks to bounce back from a narrow four-point loss this past Saturday to Bemidji State which split the weekend with AU. On Friday, Augustana flew past Minnesota Crookston, 80-62. Isaac Fink had himself a weekend by averaging 25 points and 10.5 rebounds over the two games while shooting at a 58.1 percent clip. In addition, he made 10-of-15 3-point field goals.
 
Graduate transfer Ryan Miller leads AU in scoring at 13.7 points per game while Fink has upped his average to 12.4 points per outing. The duo is joined by Jadan Graves' 11.2 points and Akoi Akoi's 10.7 points per game in double-figure scoring. Fink leads the team and ranks seventh in the NSIC with his 7.7 rebounds per outing.
 
 
One Last Thing
Caden Hinker has started the last four games for the Vikings and has made those starts count. For the season, he averages 14.9 minutes and 3.8 points per game. But over the past four games, he has tallied 19.7 minutes and 7.0 points per outing. That includes a season-best 12 points in the Vikings' last game against BSU.
