MINOT, N.D. – The Augustana softball swept Umary Saturday in a doubleheader taking place in the Minot Dome in Minot, North Dakota. The Vikings won both games in run-rule fashion, 12-0 and 10-2.

Augustana is now 21-10 on the season and 8-2 in the NSIC. UMary falls to 5-24, 0-10.

Game One: Augustana 12, UMary 0
An eight-run second inning burst the Vikings to victory in the run-rule five-inning affair. Augustana racked up 12 hits for the 12 runs with a 3-for-4 effort from
Kennedy Buckman and two hits each from
Andrea Cain and
Ashton Dorman.

In the circle,
Hailey Houston was brilliant, tossing four innings of one-hit ball while striking out three.
Haley Grimmius tossed the final inning, recording two strikeouts while facing the minimum.

The Vikings' eight-run inning started as
Sydney Herbert hit a bases-loaded single to score
Delaney Young. The score moved to 3-0 as Cain doubled in Buckman and Herbert. A 4-0 game was courtesy of a sacrifice fly by
Abby Lien to score
Liz Dierks.

Two runs were scored as
Torri Chute hit a sharp ball toward the shortstop, which was ruled an error, to score Cain and
Gracey Brink.

Augustana officially batted around the lineup when Young, who started the inning by being hit by a pitch, doubled into left field to score Chute. The final run of the inning came on an
Ashton Dorman single to center field to score Young.

The Vikings added three runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth for the 12 total runs in the victory.

Game 2: Augustana 10, UMary 2
Augustana plated five runs in the first inning to set the tone for the contest.
Delaney Young singled in
Andrea Cain and
Gracey Brink to start the scoring at 2-0. The next batter,
Kennedy Buckman, then propelled a three-run home run to make the score 5-0.

The Marauders scraped together a run in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 5-1.

In the top of the second,
Torri Chute doubled in
Gracey Brink while Buckman singled in
Abby Lien and Chute for the commanding 8-1 lead. A Brink triple in the third frame gave AU a 9-1 lead as she scored Cain.

UMary snagged another run back in the fourth inning to make the score 9-2.

Augustana's final run of the game came in the sixth inning with Lien doubling in Cain to create the 10-2 separation.

Augustana racked up 11 hits in the win with two each from Lien, Chute and Buckman. Buckman, the Vikings' second baseman, totaled five RBI in the contest.

Lexi Lander tossed three innings, allowing just three hits.
Helene Krage pitched two innings of one-hit ball while
Haley Grimmius closed on the contest by allowing a single hit.
