SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - No. 20 Augustana soccer dropped a 1-0 match to No. 7 Minnesota State Friday night on Morstad Field.

In a battle between two top-20 teams, the Vikings' fell short in the 54' minute as MSU forward Maddix Archer powered in a right-footed shot. 

AU battled throughout the entire 90 minutes, as they fired in six shots. Sophomore Audrey Parnell  and Junior Sierra Barkus led the way for the Vikings with two shots on goal. 

Both teams found equal opportunities from the corner, as they recorded five each. 

Match highlights
CHANCE (AU) 16' - Senior Hope Korte opened the game with its first scoring chance, as she rocketed in a shot from just outside the box towards the upper right netting. 

CHANCE (AU) 27' - S. Barkus made the most of her run, as she fired in a shot from outside the box but the MSU keeper got both her hands on the ball.

CHANCE (AU) 34' - Ally Hamski made her way into the action, as she opened herself up and fired in a shot from inside the box. 

CHANCE (AU) 36' - Parnell continued the momentum with a line drive stunner to the top left corner of the net but MSU keeper Mackenzie Ruth clutched up with a save. 

CHANCE (MSU) 39' - Momentum shifted as Molly Mosher headed in a shot towards Jillian Barkus, as she came up big to keep the match all square. 

GOAL (MSU) 54' - Mankato striked first as Maddix Archer fired in a right footed shot past J. Barkus. 

CHANCE (AU) 67' - Augustana was awarded a penalty kick as an MSU player used her hand to deflect the ball. S. Barkus took the shot for AU but was stopped by Ruth.
