Vikings to Face No. 8 Wildcats, Cougars

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana volleyball (9-9 overall, 5-4 NSIC) will hit the road on Thursday for a conference contest against the No. 8-ranked Wildcats of Wayne State College before returning home to host the Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls. Game time at Rice Auditorium is set for 6 p.m. while action at the Elmen Center for Alumni Night will kick off at 5 p.m.

The Wildcats
Wayne State is currently 14-3 on the season with an 8-1 conference record following a three-set sweep of Minnesota Duluth and five-set loss to St. Cloud State last weekend. Setter Molly Romano is #19 in the country for assists per set (10.88), having dished out 631 assists as Taya Beller has logged 214 kills and 75 total blocks, ranking her #20 in the country with a 1.29 blocks per set average. Brooke Peltz has collected 287 digs for a 4.95 per set average, placing her #37 in the country.
 
The Cougars
Sioux Falls holds a 11-6 record with a 6-3 NSIC showing following a three-set sweep of Minnesota Crookston and a four-set victory over Bemidji State last weekend. Sadie Voss leads the attack with 183 kills as Elisa Gillen sits with 404 assists on the season. Voss also holds the most digs at 190 while Jordan Kuper has tallied 66 total blocks and holds a .366 hitting percentage for #41 in the country.
 
The Vikings 
Augustana will face a nationally-ranked opponent for the fourth straight match following a three-set loss to then-ranked #5 St. Cloud State and a five-set marathon loss to then-ranked #20 Minnesota Duluth over the weekend.
 
Reagan Jansen leads the attack with 206 kills as Maya Wente sits with 200 kills and a hitting percentage of .334. Lucy Bartee has dished 728 assists so far this season—and ranked #45 in the nation—alongside 183 digs, 61 kills, 31 total blocks and 19 service aces. On the defensive end, Gabby Jones has collected 256 digs and Sydney Tims and Wente are tied at 82 total blocks apiece.
 
Looking Ahead
Augustana will host Winona State on Thursday, Oct. 24 before hitting the road for Minnesota State on Saturday, Oct. 26. Game times are set for 6 p.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.
