Vikings Hit the Road for Final Weekend of the Regular Season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana volleyball (12-14 overall, 8-8 NSIC play) hits the road for the final week of the regular season with a Friday contest at Northern State at 6 p.m. and a Saturday battle set for 2 p.m. against MSU Moorhead.

The Wolves
Northern State was ranked #18 in the most recent AVCA Coaches' Poll with 352 points while holding a 19-5 overall record and 11-5 conference showing. Following back-to-back five set defeats of Sioux Falls and then-ranked #10 Wayne State, Natalia Szybinska sits with 277 kills while setter Keri Walker has 949 assists so far this season. On the defensive end, Abby Meister has collected 493 digs and Abby Brooks has totaled 104 blocks.
 
NSU and AU have already met twice so far this season; once in a non-conference match up during the Augustana Volleyball Classic on Sept. 6 and again in a regular season home contest on Sept. 28. The Wolves won both games in closely-contested five-set thrillers.
 
The Dragons
Following weekend losses to Wayne State and Sioux Falls, MSU Moorhead is currently 9-15 on the year with a 4-12 record in NSIC play. Brielle Riess leads the attack with 235 kills alongside 29 service aces as Annalise Wilson has dished 474 assists. Kiara Olesch holds 331 digs so far this season and Abby Thompson sits with 64 total blocks.
 
The Vikings 
Augustana hits the road following a successful weekend homestand with back-to-back four-set victories over Minot State and UMary. Recent NSIC Second Team All-Conference honoree and Offensive Player of the Week selection Maya Wente has slammed down 298 kills this season while also leading in blocks at 118.0.
 
Lucy Bartee has eclipsed the 1000 assist mark this season, currently sitting with 1,017 so far for a 9.97 assist/set average. Gabby Jones has collected 355 digs and Sydney Tims follows closely behind Wente on the block with 106 total in addition to her 35 service aces.
 
Across the conference, Augustana sits with the most recorded blocks this season at 243.0 and is second in blocks per set with a 2.43 average. The Vikings are also fourth in points (1693.5) and sixth in total kills (1260) and total assists (1184).
 
Looking Ahead
The Vikings still have a chance of making the NSIC Tournament, dependent on what results happen in the final week of the regular season.
