Fink Pours in 31 at Winona State

WINONA, Minn. – Despite 33 points from Isaac Fink, the Augustana men's basketball team fell 80-67 at Winona State Friday night. Fink, made six 3-point baskets as part of his second-straight 30-point game and fourth-straight of 23 or more points.

Trailing 14-9, AU went on a quick 6-0 run with two points each from Caden Hinker, Sam Rensch and Fink to take the lead at 15-14. The lead then bounced back and forth five times until a pair of free throws broke the stalemate and ran out to a 30-19 lead with 7:16 remaining in the first half.

That lead stretched to 13 points at the intermission as the home team held a 46-33 advantage.

Augustana (14-9, 9-8 NSIC) trimmed the deficit to six points as Fink sank a layup with 15:36 on the clock to make the score 54-48. With both schools having a lull in the offense, the next points came with 13:56 remaining as Jadan Graves sank a trey.

After the Warriors (15-9, 10-8 NSIC) rebuilt their lead to nine points at 62-53, back-to-back Fink 3-point baskets again cut the deficit to three points. Both long-range shots were courtesy of Arhman Lewis assists, two of four on the evening for the true freshman.

Winona State again hit the gas pedal and stretched its lead to 15 points at 78-63. Augustana was unable to recover in the 80-67 final score.

For the game, the Vikings shot 46.4 percent from the field on 26-of-56 shot attempts but saw Winona State shoot 51.9 percent while making 14 3-point baskets.

Fink's 33 points were a game high while his eight rebounds marked a team high.

Augustana plays the second game of a four-game road trip Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Minnesota State.
