SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana's
Torri Chute picked up a school record 10 RBI in the Vikings' second game of a sweep Tuesday over Northwest Missouri State. Chute's 10 RBI on a single-game high in NCAA Division II in 2024 as Augustana won the contest 19-2. In the day's first game, Augustana won 4-0 in the 2024 home opener at Bowden Field.
Augustana improves to 15-12 on the season while Northwest Missouri State falls to 12-12.
Game One: Augustana 4, Northwest Missouri State 0
Grace Glanzer tossed a one-hit gem as the Vikings racked up eight hits to score four runs.
Gliding through the contest, the score sat at 0-0 until
Ashton Dorman connected on a home run into left field for a 2-0 score.
Kennedy Buckman was on first base for Doman thanks to a single up the middle.
Again, with the game continuing to fly by with Glanzer striking out 10 batters in the contest, the Vikings added two more runs in the sixth inning.
With
Torri Chute standing on second base, Dorman singled up the middle to score Chute while pushing
Gracey Brink from first to third.
Nicole Bellis then picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice to score Brink and make the score 4-2.
Glanzer tossed seven innings, allowing just a single hit in which that runner was erased on a double play in the opening frame. She moved to 6-3 on the season in the circle while not allowing a single walk.
Dorman and Buckman each collected two of the Vikings' eight hits with the other four coming from four different spots in the batting order.
Game Two: Augustana 19, Northwest Missouri State 2
Torri Chute was the name of the game as she went 4-for-4 with three home runs and 10 RBI. She had four of Augustana's 15 hits while Northwest Missouri State had four itself.
In the bottom of the first, Chute hit her first grand slam to bring the score to 4-1. After two more runs were added in the bottom of the second, the bases were again loaded for Chute, and this time she went to dead-center for her second grand slam in two innings. Chute's four-base hit knocked off the scoreboard for a commanding 10-1 lead.
Augustana added another three runs in the inning, first on a wild pitch to score
Gracey Brink, then an RBI for
Stella Harber to score
Ashton Dorman. The final run of the inning came on a
Liz Dierks single to score
Nicole Bellis.
After
Kennedy Buckman doubled into right-center, Chute stepped into the batter's box again in the bottom of the third. This time, she narrowly missed on a home run as the ball hit off the top of the padding in left field for an easy double. The Vikings picked up two more runs on a Dorman single to score Brink and Chute.
The final runs of the game came in the fourth inning as
Desi Cuevas and
Andrea Cain scored on successive errors. With the bases empty, Chute connected on her third home run of the contest to make the score 19-2.
While Chute was having a day in the batter's box,
Helene Krage picked up the win in the circle going four innings with three strikeouts and allowing just four hits.
Haley Grimmius pitched the fifth inning while picking up two strikeouts.

With spring sports comes schedule changes. Augustana's doubleheader with Northern State will now take place in Sioux Center, Iowa, with first pitch at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Vikings will play in Northfield, Minnesota, at the Dundas Dome with first pitch at 1 p.m.
