Men's Basketball Adds Four to Signing Class

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana head men's basketball coach Cody Schilling has announced four additions to his 2024-25 roster. Don Don Ferguson, Jack Hastreiter, Conner Kraft, and Tanner Te Slaa have signed their national letters of intent to play for the Vikings next season.

"We are excited to add Don, Jack, Conner and Tanner to the Augustana Men's Basketball family," said Schilling. "All four of these guys will make our program better on and off the basketball court." 

"They are all great students, incredible players and really good people. I cannot wait to get to work with each of them on a daily basis. Augustana fans are going to love watching these guys play and compete for years to come. We are fired up for the future of Augustana Men's Basketball!"

Don Don Ferguson | Guard | 6'2" | St. Cloud, Minn. | St. Cloud Tech HS | Coppin State 
Schilling on Ferguson: "Don immediately brings athleticism to our perimeter. He can get downhill and also shoot it from three. He is a good athlete who runs the wing hard and competes on both ends of the floor. I am excited for Don to join us in the Fall and watch him grow as a person and player. He will be a great addition to Viking basketball."

Previous School: Ferguson averaged 2.7 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in 14.6 minutes per game. He saw action in 11 games before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. Ferguson arrives at Augustana with three years of eligibility remaining.

High School: Ferguson averaged 24.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 4.0 steals per game while shooting 53 percent from 3-point range as a senior at St. Cloud Tech. He was tabbed St. Cloud Times Player of the Year and was named to the Central Lakes All-Conference team. Ferguson led the team to its first state tournament appearance in 14 years and finished the year 20-10 and ranked in class AAA. Following his senior year, Ferguson did a prep season at We Are United Prep in Nixa, Missouri. 

Personal: Don Don is the son of Don Ferguson, Jr. & Tammy Ferguson. While at Augustana, he plans on majoring in sport management.

Jack Hastreiter | Guard | 6'7" | Lincoln, Neb. | Pius X HS | South Dakota State 
Schilling on Hastreiter: "Jack has a huge upside. At 6'7 he can shoot the ball and competes hard every possession. He's extremely versatile, high IQ and can play and guard multiple positions. Jack is a winner everywhere he has been and I cannot wait for him to make our program better and more competitive when he steps foot on campus."

Previous School: Hastreiter saw action in 10 games and 36 minutes for the 2023-24 Summit League Champion Jackrabbits. He has three years of eligibility remaining. 

High School: Hastreiter was a 2022 All-City Second Team selection and first team all-conference academic selection as a senior. He averaged 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals his final year of his prep career. Hastreiter was a member of a district championship team in 2022 and helped the squad reach state quarterfinals. He had 16 double-digit scoring performances in 26 games and scored a season-high 21 points on 8-11 shooting in a January 2022 contest. He shot 46% from the field and had two seven-assist efforts during his senior season on his way to an all-state honorable mention selection. 

Personal: Jack is the son of Ben and Charity Hastreiter. While at Augustana, he plans on majoring in business.

Conner Kraft | Forward | 6'8" | Fargo, N.D. |  Shanley HS | South Dakota State
Schilling on Kraft: "Conner is a long, athletic wing/forward. He is a guy who can guard multiple positions on the floor. His rebounding and passing ability for a guy 6'8 is something extremely valuable. He has a great feel for the game and his offensive game continues to get better and better. We are excited for Conner to grow and blossom here at Augustana."

Previous School: Kraft sat out as a redshirt in 2023-24. He has four years of eligibility remaining

High School: Kraft helped the Deacons advance to the state tournament in 2023. He reached the 1,000-point plateau as a senior and claimed Class A Boys Basketball Second Team All-State honors while averaging 21.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.1 blocks and 2.1 steals per game in 2022-23. His junior season, he averaged 19 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks while shooting 50% from the floor and 37% from deep. Kraft was a three-year starter for Shanley and an all-conference performer as both a senior and junior. 

Personal: Conner is the son of Ken and Tina Kraft. While at Augustana, he plans on majoring in finance.

Tanner Te Slaa | Guard | 6'5" | Hull, Iowa | Boyden-Hull H.S. | South Dakota State
Schilling on Te Slaa: "Tanner is an extremely skilled, long wing. He has the ability to score in a variety of ways. He will help us stretch defenses with his shooting ability. Tanner has a great feel for the game and is a guy who makes everyone around him better. Vikings fans will love watching Tanner play and compete these next two years."

Previous School: Te Slaa averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in 10.8 minutes per game across two seasons. He saw action in 42 games and made one start while contributing to a pair of Summit League Championship teams. Te Slaa has two years of eligibility remaining. 

High School: Te Slaa was the Siouxland's 2022 SportsZone Boys Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 22.8 points, 9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game as a senior. He set the school's all-time scoring record crossing over 1,600 career points in his prep career and was selected as a first team all-state selection during final three years at Boyden-Hull. He was a IPSWA all-state team honoree and selected as the Class 2A Player of the Year, a 2022 Iowa Boys All-Star Team member and unanimous selection to the Siouxland all-conference first team. He was a three-time state finalist, including a 2020 state championship. 

Personal: Tanner is the son of Darwin and Lisa Te Slaa. While at Augustana, he plans on majoring in business.
