ySIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana softball swept Minnesota State, 3-0 and 4-3 on Thursday afternoon as the Vikings celebrated senior day with its 23rd and 24th consecutive win. The Vikings went undefeated at Bowden Field this season.
Game One: Augustana 3, Minnesota State 0
Grace Glanzer made quick work of the opposition throughout the game with six strikeouts and only allowing one hit through seven innings of work.
Kennedy Buckman opened up the game in the bottom of the first with a two-RBI homer to left-center field, bringing home
Andrea Cain in the process.
Glanzer continued the Vikings' momentum with quick work in the top of the second.
Augustana's bats went to work in the bottom of the fourth with
Gracey Brink launching a ball to deep left-center for a double.
Nicole Bellis stepped up to the plate and singled to center field, bringing Brink home to make it a 3-0 game.
For the remainder of the game, both pitchers dealt as the game closed out with a 3-0 win in favor of the Vikings.
Game Two: Augustana 4, Minnesota State 3
Lexi Lander started in the circle for the Vikings as she pitched six innings and struck out two batters en route to her 13th win of the season.
Augustana opened the game in the bottom of the first with a two-RBI single up the middle from
Ashton Dorman to score
Torri Chute and Buckman.
In the top of the second, Augustana made a bang-bang double play to continue its strong defensive day.
In the bottom of the second, the Vikings had seven batters face pitches with
Desi Cuevas scoring
Liz Dierks with a single to center field. One inning later, Brink pushed Augustana's lead to 4-0 with a home run to right field.
Minnesota State started to make a comeback in the top of the fifth with a home run to right field, cutting the lead to 4-1. The Mavericks' bats got hot in the third with a two-RBI home run to cut the lead to 4-3.
After the Mavericks' home run,
Haley Grimmius stepped into the circle to close out the game. MSU loaded up the bases with two outs remaining but the Vikings' defense locked down the field and got the force out at second base to win 4-3.

Augustana takes the remainder of the week off as it preps for the NSIC Championships. The Championships are slated from May 1-4 at Bowden Field in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
