PITTSBURG, Kan. – Augustana softball exploded at the plate as it cruised to a 9-2 win over No. 1 seed Pittsburg State and punched its ticket to the NCAA Super Regionals.Â
The Vikings compiled 10 hits and seven walks through the game while
Grace Glanzer pitched a two-run complete game.
Desi Cuevas collected three hits including a two-run bomb over the left-field fence in the top of the seventh.Â

Augustana forced three straight walks in the opening frame before
Gracey Brink singled through the left side to bring home the opening two runs. The Vikings' strong first inning forced the Gorillas to make a pitching change.Â
PSU answered back in the bottom of the first with a run of its own before the Vikings defense locked up the remaining two base runners.Â
Pittsburg State equalized the game in the bottom of the second off a sacrifice fly to
Liz Dierks.Â
The game remained tied through the third inning before the Vikings' bats exploded for five runs in the fourth. An
Andrea Cain single through the middle brought two Vikings home to make it 4-2.Â
Torri Chute reached on a fielder's choice and brought Dierks across the plate. Brink made it 7-2 with a single down the third base line and brought
Kennedy Buckman and Cain home.Â
Glanzer continued to deal over the next few innings and had help from a Cuesvas two-run homer over the left-field fence to advance the Vikings to the Super Regional.Â
