LONGWOOD, Fla. – Augustana softball concluded its season Tuesday afternoon in the NCAA DII National Tournament with a 5-2 loss to Wilmington (Del.). Wilmington found the scoreboard early, after a single to left center and a single off an error, put two Wildcats on the bases. After an eight pitch at-bat, Wilmington hit a single to right field and plated two runs.

Augustana answered back in the third as Cain launched the ball over the right field fence for a solo home run. After a quick inning in the bottom of the third, the Vikings were within one going into the fourth.

A quick groundout to first base brought NSIC Player of the Year Gracey Brink to the plate. In an 0-0 count Brink took the first pitch up the middle infield to reach first. Ashton Dorman shot a single through the right side and advanced Brink to second. Stella Harber reached on a throwing error as Brink rounded the third base line and plated Augustana second run of the game.

Both teams exchanged hits in the fifth but the score remained 2-2 heading into the sixth. Wilmington locked down the Vikings to bring in the bottom half.
