Augustana Athletics Names Nine as Part of 2024 Hall of Fame Class

John Anderson is a four-year starter that averaged 11.6 points per game for the Vikings. The 1985 graduate was the 11th player in program history to reach the 1,000 point total and currently ranks 20th all-time with 1,275 points. A two-time Academic All-NCC honoree, Anderson dished 321 assists (16th all-time) while shooting 80% from the free throw line. He was also a stout defender, leading the Vikings in steals for two seasons. He is a 1985 graduate of Augustana.

Craig Bosch is a two-time All-NCC Selection on the defensive line and earned D2Football.com All-Region honors as a senior in 2006. He is the football program’s all-time leader in tackles for a loss with 48.0 and is tops in sacks with 23.0. Bosch set a single-game record with 5.0 tackles for loss in a 2004 contest against Concordia-St. Paul. He led the NCC in sacks in 2006 and recorded three in a game against St. Cloud State, tied for the second most in program history. Bosch started all 44 games throughout his career and returned his only career interception for a touchdown. 

Ty Copsey was a four-time national qualifier, four-time All-America honoree and 2009-10 national runner-up at 197 pounds for the Vikings from 2007-11. He won three region championships and was also a three-time All-NSIC honoree. His efforts also led to team success, helping push the Vikings to a national runner-up finish in 2009-10 and a third place finish in 2010-11. He earned the 2008 NCC Freshman of the Year award and is one of just three four-time All-Americans in Augustana history. 

Alex Feeney helped lead Augustana to the Final Four as a senior in 2013, capping a career that saw her earn a flurry of honors. The 2011-12 All-American concluded her career fourth all-time in scoring with 1,723 points. She also corralled 828 rebounds, marking the seventh-most all-time. Feeney earned a spot on the Daktronics All-Central Region First Team in 2011-12 and 2012-13 and was named to the D2 Bulletin All-Freshman Team in 2009-10. The two-time All-NSIC First Team member was also the NSIC Freshman of the Year and was a three-time academic All-NSIC honoree. 

Lori Fossum was a three-time All-NCC Selection and 2000 AVCA All-America First Team honoree that helped push the Vikings to the National Championship match as a senior. She was also named to the Daktronics All-America Second Team, Lutheran Brotherhood All-America First Team and Successful Farming All-America Team. Fossum was a major part of the greatest run in Augustana volleyball history, reaching the NCAA Tournament in each season that she attended. She ranks third in program history with 459 blocks and is 14th with 1,121 kills. Fossum will receive the honor posthumously. 

Katie Jesperson was a two-time NSIC Player of the Year, four-time All-NSIC First Team in both singles and doubles, four-time NSIC Champion and ITA Central Region Senior Player of the Year in 2014. She held a career singles record of 85-8 and led the Vikings to a combined 85-12 record in her time while helping the ascension of Augustana women’s tennis. Jesperson earned a pair of DI singles victories as a senior on her way to a 22-1 singles record. She also dominated that season to the tune of a 25-0 doubles record. Jesperson never lost more than three singles matches in a season and had a career-best 29 wins in her freshman season. 

Becky Mancuso was a second team NFCA All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-American in 1998, batting .409 with eight home runs and collected 54 RBI while scoring 40 runs for the 1998 Region Champions. The 1999 graduate made 236 starts, tied for the eighth most in program history. Mancuso batted .321 over four seasons with 15 home runs, 128 runs scored and 127 RBI. She was a first team All-Region selection in 1998 and was on three NCAA Tournament teams from 1997-99. Marcuso also earned the 1999 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Cam McCaffrey ended his career as Augustana’s all-time scoring leader with 1,964 points in 2013. He was named the NSIC Freshman of the Year in 2009-10 and helped lead the resurgence of Augustana basketball by helping the Vikings to three NCAA Tournaments. He is an Academic All-America honoree while being named to three different All-America teams (NABC, Daktronics/CCA and D2 Bulletin) his senior season. McCaffrey is a two-time All-Region, three-time All-NSIC and three-time academic All-NSIC selection.

Tony Viger was the first All-America First Team honoree in baseball’s history and was the only Region Position Player of the Year before this season. He was a Tino Martinez Award Finalist, given to the top DII players in the country. Viger was a Consensus All-American First Team as a senior in 2014 and was the NSIC Player of the Year after batting .407 with a .455 on-base percentage and .688 slugging percentage. He led the country with 28 doubles. Viger also led the NSIC and was top 10 nationally with 152 total bases, 65 runs scored and 90 hits while ranking 11th in the country with 62 RBI. He also struck out 17 batters and allowed just a pair of earned runs while collecting a pair of saves in his final season. Viger batted .347 over the course of his career with 53 doubles, 128 RBI and 136 runs scored.
