TBILISI, Georgia – Former Augustana men's basketball student-athlete
Jadan Graves has signed a contract to play professionally for BC Orbi, the Georgian Super League club announced earlier this week.
Graves, a native of Syracuse, New York, becomes the 24th former Viking to sign a professional contract, the first since Jordan Spencer was signed by the London Lions in 2018.
"I am so excited to get this opportunity to continue my dream of playing professional basketball," Graves said.
"My goal is to see a better day each day, striving to be 1% better than yesterday. This will be my first time out of the country so it should be an exciting and good experience. It will also be a little nerve wracking but as long as I get that orange ball, some music and video games I'll be fine! I might learn some Georgian and adapt to their culture and society. This opportunity is a blessing and marks the start of the journey. I'm excited to go put on my city and family and see where life takes me."
BC Orbi advanced to the Super League playoffs as a five seed last season, dropping a five-game series (3-2) to fourth-seeded Gau. The team went 10-10 on the season after starting 2-5.
"We are extremely excited for Jadan and his future," Augustana head coach
Cody Schilling said. "Playing professional basketball has always been a dream of his and to see him reach that goal and have this opportunity is special. Lots of hard work and hours in the gym have led to this becoming a reality. Our staff, program and entire fanbase cannot wait to follow his success overseas."
A 6-foot-2, guard, Graves was named Second Team All-NSIC as a senior after scoring 15.0 points and 3.4 assists per game in 30 games. In his two-year Augstana career, Graves scored 819 points and dished 225 assists while starting all 59 games. He averaged 13.9 points, 3.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game while nabbing 50 steals.
