SIOUX FALLS S.D. - The Augustana soccer team played MIAA opponent Fort Hays State to a 0-0 tie on Friday night on Morstad Field in the Vikings home opener.
Augustana edged out the Tigers in shots on goal by a total of 5-2 en route to a game total of of 15 shots.
Sierra Barkus tallied three shots on goal with
Laina Souerdyke rounding out the final two shots on goal.
Aaliyah Matthews stood tall in the net with two saves through 90 minutes of play.
Augustana made a strong push in the final 10 minutes of play with three shot attempts.

Audrey Parnell opened the match with a shot off goal in the 8th minute with Barkus following up the attempt a minute later for the first shot on goal.

Madelyn White found a scoring opportunity in the 21st minute but missed wide left.
SHOT (FHSU) 28' - Fort Hays State recorded its first shot on goal in the 28th minute but Matthews came up big to keep things even.
SHOT (AU) 34' - Souerdyke tallied her first shot on goal in the late part of the first half. She recorded her second shot on goal five minutes later helping keep the pace for Augustana.
SHOT (AU) 49' - The Vikings opened up the match's second half with energy with back-to-back shots from Parnell and White.
SHOT (FHSU) 59' - Matthews came up big in the 59th minute with a big save headed for the middle of the net.
YELLOW CARD (AU) 62' -
Avery Nelson was hit with a yellow card in the 62nd minute while FHSU had possession in the offensive zone.
SHOT (AU) 81' - Augustana had two strong opportunities in the dying minutes of play as
Macie Haggerty's shot was blocked and Barkus' was saved.
SHOT (AU) 86' - Haggerty found another chance in the final four minutes of play but missed the bar by inches.
